A few things worth knowing.
Practical notes for preparing images and passing them on. No special vocabulary required.
FORMATS
Choosing an image format
What JPEG, PNG and WebP each bring to a file.
Read the guide ->Choose the size that fits
Start with the display size. Keep a high-quality original separately and make a working copy for each use. A larger file does not automatically make a small preview clearer.
- For a page image, check the actual layout width first.
- High-density screens can benefit from extra pixels, but the right balance depends on the page.
- Keep the aspect ratio locked unless stretching is intentional.
Make the handover clear
A good filename and a small note can save another round of questions. Keep source files separate from prepared copies.
- Use names that describe the subject and version.
- Include rights or attribution notes when the source requires them.
- Open the exported file once before you send it.
